Get Your Name on Sally B

B-17 Flying Fortress G-BEDF Sally B, the UK’s last remaining airworthy B-17 Flying Fortress, brings you:

          • A unique opportunity to have YOUR NAME (or the name of your choice) on this famous and historic aircraft for two whole years!
          • Spend a special day with Sally B as our guest at the Imperial War Museum Duxford's main air show on Saturday 4 September 2010, when the Roll of Honour (including your chosen name) will be officially unveiled.
          • Your name will be entered into a draw for the chance to be trained as a Crew Member which includes an orientation flight in       Sally B.
          • A Certificate in recognition of your Roll of Honour status.

The American bomber crews who flew out of British bases during the Second World War became renowned for their custom of adorning their aircraft with “unofficial” artwork, and many a B-17 was adorned with crew members’ own names, or perhaps that of a sweetheart left back at home.    Sally B flies as a tribute to those brave young men, and the Sally B Roll of Honour offers you the chance to follow in the time-honoured tradition of having the name of your choice inscribed on the outside of the aircraft’s fuselage for two years. More details below the photographs.

We have designated a panel on the outside of Sally B’s fuselage known as the Roll of Honour where those contributing £450 or more (£395 for Sally B Supporters Club Members) to help keep Sally B flying can have the name of their choice inscribed for TWO YEARS!

The first ever Roll of Honour was unveiled by the then Director of Duxford, Ted Inman OBE, on 28 April 2002 at a special ceremony at the Imperial War Museum Duxford. We are delighted to offer YOU the chance to add the name of your choice and join us as our guest for the day at the Imperial War Museum Duxford's main air show on Saturday 4 September 2010. This will be a truly spectacular occasion, and you will have access to these exclusive facilities:

            • Sally B Roll of Honour Members enclosure on the flight line.
            • Sumptuous fully lined and carpeted marquee.
            • Outside seating area – enjoy the flying display in comfort!
            • Meet the Crew and Team.
            • Bar and catering facilities.

Not only will you be able to enjoy the flying display from the comfort of our very own Sally B Roll of Honour Members’ enclosure, you will also have the chance to meet and chat to Sally B Operator, Elly Sallingboe, and meet the Flight Crew. Take the opportunity to ask questions about what is involved in operating this magnificent flying memorial, and soak up the historic atmosphere at Duxford – a former Battle of Britain station and USAAF fighter base.

Sally B will be parked near the enclosure for much of the day (apart from during her flying slot), and you will be able to see the name of your choice on her fuselage at close quarters. Then, take a guided tour of Sally B, and experience what it’s really like to be inside a Second World War aircraft. You can also enjoy the Imperial War Museum’s exhibitions at your leisure.

During the show, your name will be entered in a lucky draw by Sally B Operator, Elly Sallingboe, for the once-in-a-lifetime privilege of being trained as a Crew Member and, at a later date, a flight in Sally B!
